What to Expect
For many, this is their first wedding dress and an overwhelming process. I am here to make you feel comfortable during your fittings, and for your alteration experience run smoothly. Please view the other pages I have here to get an idea of what to expect, what I expect from clients, and what kind of charges are for particular services. First things First The best time to book your first gown fitting would be 3 months before your wedding, or you leave for your destination wedding. This is because there are typically 2-3 fittings before taking your dress home. Give me a call with a few different times you're available for your first fitting and we'll set a date. Wedding Gown Fittings BEFORE the 1st fitting- If pre-arranged, you may drop off your dress for storing if desired, but the FULL deposit/fitting fee of $100 must be made. If you have a ball gown style dress, the crinoline layers underneath may need steamed before pinning a hem (to shorten), so arranging ahead of time can be more convenient for both of us. 1st Fitting - Plan on 1 hour for your first fitting. You NEED TO BRING: Bra/corset, bra cups, shoes, belt.... Sometimes brides don't need cups or bra, but if you have it bring it! Depending on the amount of work, we may only pin the top 1/2 of your dress and leave the hem for the next fitting. You are welcome to leave your items with your dress so you don't forget them next time. 2nd Fitting- This is just to see if the alterations thus far is a good fit. If you are gaining or losing weight, or come right after lunch, it's going to show. Keep in mind many things affect the way your dress will fit. The goal is to maintain the measurements you had at your first fitting. If it fluctuates significantly you will have to pay for the additional work it creates. This fitting is also to then address the hem if not done yet. Each fitting you will need to pay $50 toward your bill. 3rd Fitting- For some, this is the last fitting and final pick up. For others, it's to make sure the work up top is final, the hem can be finished, and the dress can then be steamed for a final pick up. Each fitting you will need to pay $50 toward your bill or paid in full if taking the gown home. Final Fitting/Pick up- This is the last time you will try on your dress before it goes out the door. You will take it home with you within 1 week, usually this is the week before your wedding. |
